As was climate change until the reality of everyday impacts brought it into the wider public eye. There's a shared responsibility to make #biodiversity and #EcosystemServices at least as relatable. Science and Policy for People and Nature

Here in the US the term #climatechange is still very polarizing and many, therefore, avoid it in the #publicsphere... The US is a extreme case, but not alone.

The politics of language is always important but the role of @IPBES is explicitly to avoid policy prescription. By presenting all decision-makers with the best-available evidence and policy options we aim to empower better-informed choices
