SALUTE TO BEES Pollinators like bees are at the heart of agriculture. Why are Bees important? Almost 90% of wild plants and 75% of global crops depend on animal pollinators. Bees pollination services provide one-third of all the food we eat. What Threats Are Bees Facing? Bees face multiple threats affecting their survival. Human-driven habitat loss from urbanization, deforestation, and intensive farming limits their access to diverse food sources. Pesticides in agriculture pose direct and indirect dangers by contaminating their food. Diseases and parasites like Varroa mites can decimate colonies. And the BEST BIT, what can YOU do? 1. You can plant bee-friendly wildflowers in your garden. 2. Do not use pesticides 3. Support local beekeepers by buying honey from them. Connectivity is critical 4. Urban habitat corridors, gardens, parks, green spaces, and rivers crossing towns and cities make a significant difference. 5. Farmers/Agriculture. Leave parts of your fields as wild meadows with wild plants and flowers. 6. Natural habitat corridors bordering agricultural fields allow pollinators to travel and forage
