I think maybe we should confront the systemic issues and do away with single-use, throwaway anything and stop trusting that some Promethean tech will do the hard work for us?

We don't need to promote deforestation for single use packaging. Use less, waste less. This is neither a short nor long-term solution ans totally misses the point of overarching global problems.

They might start deforesting to grow this specific kind of plant. The answer should go through changing materials, but more than anything it should work on changing mentalities.
