What a weirdly ecstatic way to announce a report into human-caused mass extinction - is there literally any review into other tragedies that would be framed like this? Genuine question @IPBES, from a fan, do you think about the language you use when you present 'the evidence'?

Of course we do Scott - and the reality of the #GlobalAssessment is not, contrary to much of the reporting, tragedy but rather urgency of opportunity. The science is clear - it’s not too late to act - if we act now.

Thanks for replying. But it's not okay to own what is and isn't a tragedy: the loss of nature at this scale, at this pace, for these reasons, and with such unjust distribution is, to me and many others, tragic. That we have could fix this, but aren't, reinforces that tragedy.

Thanks Scott but you miss the point of the original post which celebrates the fact that for the first time ever the scope and scale of the #naturecrisis has been presented to and accepted by 132 Governments by the worlds leading experts w/ options to do better
