That’s only half the truth. I’m not a scientist but I seem to know more than the IPBES’s spokesperson. Tropical rainforests are natural carbon sinks & play a big role in the natural C cycle. The absence of these carbon sinks in itself will increase CO2 as well as deforestation.

Agreed 100%, but in order to support an ever growing human population, deforestation will not only continue, but increase rapidly. At a population of 8 billion, then 10 or even 15, the situation can only deteriorate, but global warming will escalate before then.
