#InvasiveSpecies are a major threat to global #biodiversity. But solutions are possible. The upcoming @IPBES #InvasiveAlienSpecies assessment will provide decision-makers with the best evidence on their prevalence, impacts, drivers and options for control.

The worst #InvasiveAlienSpecies is Homo sapiens. Why does IPBES say nothing about population growth. Not politically correct. I guess it’s more important to be politically correct than save the biosphere... ecointernet.org/2016/06/05/t…

That's a wildly inaccurate observation. Population growth is mentioned in at least 12 different contexts in the Summary for Policymakers of the @IPBES #GlobalAssessment - including the key findings. But perhaps a good moan is more important than the facts...

I don’t recall seeing any tweets specifically addressing population growth. Sorry I must have missed that. I did note however see that the IPBES glibly used the term β€˜land use change’ in their summary. I presume that was referring to ecosystem destruction.

Nothing glib about it - clearly defined in the glossary. Try actually reading the summary - or better yet, try reading the actual report - tweets are perhaps not the best way to engage with 1,500 pages of work by more than 500 scientists over three years

OK. My time is limited so unable to read the 1500 pages of the report at this stage. Which is why I read the summary. Dismayed at the wording. I hoped for stronger words having read articles about work and report a few months before it was published. Anyway sorry to cause offence
