Well all know that #Nature & its Contributions to People underpin all aspects of life & connect to all of the #SDGs
For the 1st time, a more complete picture is open for all to see
"we can create a future where both people and nature thrive" @AnneGuerryvice.com/en_us/article/pa7xd…
New study: as #ClimateChange forces species to evolve & shift their ranges, consider both ecology & evolution
These 2 factors can each help #Biodiversity, but have conflicting effects as some species adapt faster & prevent other species from adapting

🖋️@TheEconomist Open Future essay winner argued that future generations need #ClimateChange legal rights

But media that did cover it (and still do) should also be credited - the story beat the birth of the Royal Baby on @BBCNews the day he was born! Two main hashtags generated more than 30 million impressions and #GlobalAssessment was beaten only by #GameofThrones in many countries
With >33,000 online articles alone in more than 150 countries and 50 languages the #GlobalAssessment set new benchmarks for environmental media coverage. Should #biodiversity receive more coverage than it does? Of course!
Thanks for the concern but factually this is not fully accurate - the @IPBES#GlobalAssessment Report at least matched and on many metrics (especially in online and print media) outpaced the 1.5 Degrees Report.
'Dead Species Walking'
9% of our estimated 5.9 million terrestrial #species have insufficient habitat for long term survival🐾
Habitat restoration could save many species, if soon after the original loss or degradation of habitat #WorldHabitatDay

🌳Global forest area is now 68% of estimated pre-industrial levels
#Nature can be conserved, restored and used sustainably🐒

Look at #CostaRica: a change of policies can reverse environmental damage and #biodiversity decline🦎
🌴The tropics are home to the highest levels of #biodiversity in the🌎, but have also experienced the greatest loss of intact #ecosystems
100 mil. ha deforested (1980-2000)
#ClimateChange, land-use change and direct exploitation create combined risks
