To save money I bought a japanese copy of Mario 64. Cost like half as much. N64 carts are "region locked" by a plastic notch, no software. You can either swap out the back of the cart with a US cart or cut out the plastic tabs on the inside of the console.

This one a direct pain arrow to my soul.
