C’mon man it’s about as close to a 1-1 parallel as exists in the entire fantasy genre. Sure there are broader principles, but at that point you could say the Fire Nation is the Seljuk Turks or the Aztec Empire or the Avar Khanate as accurately as it is the United States lol
