To be fair, he directed Uncharted 4, and I left that game feeling satisfied that Nate and his friends lived happily ever after.
But I guess he felt that it was a failure, so he compensated super hard with TLOU2, nobody lived, PERIOD!!!
I think ppp are misunderstanding what he means by this. He wants players to feel like they experienced something real and not something that’s just cliche and predictable. We as gamers should all feel moved emotionally by a project and not feel like you’ve played this before.
This is funny, but, even in the overwhelming misery of some of The Last of Us, that misery always intersects with genuine emotions, notably love. Playing these games feels cathartic and good for me, even if they aren't trying to evoke outright *positive* experiences.
