Nah I’m a fan of the game and there’s plenty of things that this game doesn’t have that I liked about previous games (party control, more rewarding exploration, different gear/weapons offered something other than an increase in main stats, etc)

Yeah the equipment wasn't really balanced. It's just blanket improvements. Get a stronger sword that makes the older irrelevant (or it was literally used as material for next sword) and get a minor stat increase.

So Genshin Impact is more of a rpg than ff16? It has elemental effects and gearing. Not saying I disagree, I’m literally trying to understand what these things have to do with being a rpg

Nah, forget that. This isn't Final Fantasy anymore. But, I mean, Final Fantasy games haven't been Final Fantasy in over 20 years. FFXVII might as well be a kart racer.
