These days I just don't bother with the brightness slider and just leave it by default. Most games already look good enough anyway.

I used to adjust the sliders according to what the game asked. But sometimes, it was so dark, I could see my reflection on the screen. Now I crank the brightness as much as I can. I want to see what I'm playing, thank you very much.
