I for one am thankful, and disgusted. There are so many other things out there that already have easily defined names that need to be reinvented for zero reason.

Metroidvania sounds better than "side scrolling back tracking in a maze" genre. Also no one has an issue with Rogue-Likes, which is a genre named after one specific game. I'm also fine with calling platform fighting games what they are... Smash-Likes. XD Come at me XD
