good article but the government LIKES philanthropy, actually because it lets them keep avoiding fixing the problems that makes people need philanthropy

Why would they be afraid? As long as people are distracted by philanthropy they won't notice how all the problems "being solved" could've been solved by the government already

uhhhh philanthropy is what the government wants. It gives them an out so they don't have to provide services to people like health care. It also enforces the idea that capitalism "works". They want the individual savior rather then the collective saving them selves.
