most new games will pause, but its always a gamble with older titles, some just do nothing when pressed.

Nearly no new game will instantly skip with the start button. It will either need you to hold a button for a longer time or gives you the skip option in the pause menu

my fave is games like warhammer vermintide 2 where pressing ANY KEY long enough will skip the scene...rip trying to use push to talk
