I normally don’t believe in this, but when I was a kid and faced Mewtwo in Leaf Green, I threw a regular Pokeball turn one, full health, and did the trick. It worked.

A + B + ↓ allowed me to catch a Moltres with a pokéball on the first turn in FR. It's not easy to get rid of this belief
