So a few weeks ago I started a "play as yourselves" campaign where they all give themselves a class and stats and go. I gave them a DMPC that is one of the player's dog that has become awakened from the events of the plot hook and is now a sun soul monk

though there is a whole section about homebrewing and house rules

Instead of AirBud, it's AirBard.

If they can roll a die, they can play D&D

Ain't no rule says a dog can't play D&D
