honest to god the Switch has so many dumbass design flaws. WHY would it even go on the other way

Literally happened to me 3 times. Just use a butter knife to pry them off. It's pretty easy.

Dude I did this within 24 hours of getting a switch and it took me and my parents a solid hour to get it off

There's a clasp on the inside you can manipulate with a thin piece of metal to easily get it off

There are pretty nifty videos on how to get them free. Done it a couple times.

My manager at my old job bought a switch after I told him about how much I liked mine. He got the Diablo edition one and I saw him in person put them on the wrong way, but I didn't say shit. He was kinda a dick so I let him deal with it.
