I don't know. That "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back" movie was based on a video game and turned out pretty good too.

Movie would have been better with the Mesoamerican temple levels that the game had.

I think it was very prescient of Rare and Eon to release the movie of the game first. It allowed people to get to know the characters and put them in the public conversation so that the proper context would be ready when the game actually released.
