Smash can be played however you want to play it. 1v1 with no items is fun, but when you've got 8 good friends together with items and Hazards, theres just nothing else like it.

Smash with items on is bad. The MOST I will accept is a Normal Form stage.

This is always an interesting argument, in that it's interesting it's argued. It depends on what experience you want out of the game, and the people you're playing with. I suppose it also depends on if you're only concerned with increasing your odds of winning versus having fun.
