Anyone getting mad at this has to assume that in 30+ years of hiring employees or traveling around the world, Bruce had never met a single woman named Martha; nor ever heard of famous Marthas: Raye, Plimpton, Wash, or Reeves.

Do people still not understand the Martha scene? After alll these years? Kind of bizarre.

The Martha thing could have worked out if there was any set up for it, like at all. Clark is an award winning journalist. He could have deduced who was under the cowl and made that connection, then as a desperate act at getting Bats to snap out of his rage: drop the name.
