I've had my dog roll for me before! Balance the die on something thin but tall (eg. chapstick tube, sideways matchbox, etc), put it on a hard surface on the ground, and point at it excitedly saying "what's this??" until they knock it over and send the die rolling.

I'm surprised this isn't already a movie.
