The director couldn't answer a simple question on the radio yesterday as to why it didn't come to Birmingham, Leeds or Newcastle. He couldn't answer directly. The "diverse" community of east London needed this building but presumably not the diverse community in the north.
There's always culture for London but a pitched fork battle to get anything outside London. I think it's disgusting and tax payers money. Especially as much of items in the V and A were made all across the UK Dudley West Midland e.g. No star architects here.
