If you already own SR2 on Steam you will automatically get the fixed version for free. Also, to be clear this is not a remaster but simply fixing issues with the game and adding the previously console-only DLC with some quality of life improvements and modern hardware support.

We are integrating the previously console-only DLC into the PC Steam version. The DLC will be part of the base game and free. We have only committed to fixing the Steam release at this time, which is the original that all other PC versions are based on.

Fixing SR2 PC is a side project with a small 2 man team working after hours. The rest of the studio is 100% focused on delivering the next Saints Row game!

Sorry to hear that you are having issues. Unfortunately, we did not work on the Saints Row IV: Re-Elected port which was done by an outside studio. Deep Silver support should be able to assist though:

The update is to fix issues with the game. It is not a remaster. If you own the game on Steam you will have access to this fixed version for free when it releases.

You're barking up the wrong tree. We no longer own the rights to the Freespace IP, and haven't for quite some time.

That's a marketing thing not a studio one. As far as we know, nobody actually forked over the cash for it.
