That is really strange. Are you playing on Switch version? If so, we weren't involved with the port in any way, so Deep Silver support would be your best bet:

Perhaps we misunderstood. It should be saving your progress between play sessions but this does reset back after completing all 3 of the missions for each DLC so you can replay them. Is it not doing that?

Saints Row 2 PS3 uses Gamespy for co-op/multi, and they shut down quite some time ago. Unfortunately, there is no way to play co-op on this release any longer.

PSA: No Volition stream today. Nothing to worry about though. The cancellation is because we'll all be at our annual company meeting. We'll be back streaming next Thursday to talk about and play Red Faction Guerilla for its upcoming 10th anniversary!

While we are the original developers of Saints Row: The Third, we weren't involved with the Switch port, which was done by @DSFishlabs. We did these streams to help support the release. Our understanding is that there are no plans to add gyro controls.

Nothing to feel bad about. As Volition was the original developer, we think it's awesome that players our still engaging with our game (or just discovering it for the first time!) We're happy to point them in the right direction to help them get the info they need.
