I never understood the excuse of "People can't use They/Them because they're not two people!" Do they not realize that English has words with more than one meaning? April's a month AND a name, you don't see people refusing to use the name April because "they aren't a month"

If someone ever tells you they won't use your preferred pronouns because you aren't two people, tell them this statement and they'll either understand it or have no response. People who refuse to use They/Them have zero concept of English grammar.

as someone who is interested in linguistics and language evolution, the "they/them isnt singular" mindset makes me want to scream. to not understand how languages evolve makes me angry

I always respond with this: "If I said my friend fell down the stairs, what would your response be?" Then: "Uhhh... Are... They.... Okay?" Me: You just successfully used singular they/them. And I did just now as well.

They does mean gender neutral? It always has? It is actually really helpful if you don't know who someone is. Example: "Someone is stealing my mozzarella cheese, but I don't know who THEY are" Saying that people cannot be non binary is at least a valid argument (Although wrong)

People like this hurt my brain Its like saying you can't give someone a certain name even though it's used for literally everyone (examples: I knew two Riley's female and male and a Harley male)

Also! Singular they has existed for FOREVER! It got phased out at one point but it’s back! So too bad!

people who dislike people using they/them would have a heart attack hearing about the singular they also used when not knowing someone's gender
