Just realized that calling it "Nintendo Switch Sports" is a weird decision. Considering that the Wii is the "Nintendo Wii" but Nintendo just called the game "Wii Sports". I feel like they still could have gotten away with "Switch Sports" but "Nintendo Switch Sports" is a mouthful

Probably because the console was heavily marketed as the "Nintendo Switch" rather than just "The Switch" like how the Wii was. I guess they would like to stay consistent with the brand, but still "Nintendo Switch Sports" is a long name.

the wii's official name is the wii, not the nintendo wii nintendo is very strong with their ips, for example they never use the terms gamecube, ds, 3ds or switch in marketing and announcements because those aren't official names

I always thought “Mii Sports” would have been a better name. Of course it will have to make the Miis the main face of the game and not the sport mates

trademark issues maybe? "Switch Sports" might have been too simple of a name to trademark, idk lol

I legit forgot that this was the actual name of it. I always only called it 'Switch Sports' Lol also image it being called "Nintendo Wii Sports" all this time..

Nintendo consoles always have had their brand name in front of it. Like the "Nintendo Gamecube" for instance. However, they never based the marketing on the console as the "Nintendo Gamecube". But is in fact, the "Nintendo Gamecube".
