Well, MKW was the most recent MK for 3 years (MK7 being released in 2011) and MK8 is here since May 2014 so almost 7 years, + they combine the Switch and Wii U sales although quite a few people that bought the Wii U version also bought DX. So imo it doesn't really count.

It was inevitable since its slightly harder to get Mkwii.
