Squidina was introduced in a SpongeBob Christmas special and it was so... weird seeing this character added to a show with no explanation. The characters just treated her like she was always apart of the main crew, but we never seen her before.
Turns out she's Patrick's sister..

Why does SpongeBob have actual lore now? This show has been running since 1999 and we're just now getting backstories and new side characters. I'm excited... I guess, but I'm nervous we could be having another Fairly Odd Parents Chloe situation on our hands.

I stg if they make Squidna apart of the main cast I think I'm going to stop watching because like I wasn't that much of a fan of hers when she was introduced in the Christmas special lmfao.

So basically she was first seen in a Christmas Special without any introduction at all and was treated like we've known her for the entire series.
The Christmas Special was in 2019 so I think they had this planned, but we're just now finding out she's Patrick's sister.

I'm gonna give it a chance tho, along with Kamp Koral whenever I end up getting Paramount+. I think it's early to judge a series before actually watching it, but based on what I've seen of Squidina... I haven't liked her :3

Also may I add we've only seen Squidina in two episodes and she never had any introduction.
There are literally hundreds of episodes of SpongeBob with each Cast member getting pretty much an equal amount of Spotlight (not counting side characters)
