It’s not bad by any means, but it’s also not too innovative for the reasons everyone else stated. Plus, the omnipresence of coins gives you so many lives that makes getting a Game Over of all things a chore.
1/2 I loved it as a kid and still hold it dear, but also recognize that it is a pretty lazily designed and barebones platformer. The thing about the genre is that so many games have expressed true art and expansive worlds like donkey kong, ori, celeste, and shovel knight that-
I am a New Super Mario Bros. fanboy.
2 is my least favorite due to its glaring similarities to Wii and minimal new content.
However, I still like it a lot; Raccoon Mario is fun to use in a modern game, and I dig some of the DLC packs.
