If I had to guess, this probably means two things. 1. We can get Custom Skins in Smash Ultimate with modding 2. We can bring the skin over from Ultimate to Minecraft

No, I'm saying with a little bit of work we can bring the Ultimate Steve skin to Minecraft as a skin. Although not entirely sure, I'm not 100% certain on how skin creation works.

i know how to replace textures and it's pretty easy actually, so it would be extremely easy to get minecraft skins to smash ultimate and vice versa
