Before splatoon was ever even announced wasn't there a paintball gun game with mario that was being rumored? Like i remember some of the rumors from back in the day sorta lined up with what we know about splatoons development, and that was one of them im pretty sure.

i mean the original plans for splatoon was to use yoshi's right? if so, i wouldn't be surprised if those rumors existed at some point.

Yeah! Yoshi and Mario were planned to be in the game. So like i genuinely wonder if some insiders heard about it at that early point as i do remember rumors that were very similar in description.
