hey y'all i have a request for you. instead of using he/she when not knowing the gender of the person you're referring to, can we use they? like in the student handbook at school it says, "if he/she did_____" instead of that can we say "if they did_______"

yea, but people sometimes don't even use they in speech and simply say "he/she" and it sounds so improper. people just forget that the word they exist for some reason.

yea, here we were never really taught that in school. especially considering everyone just uses he/she in writing most of the time.

the best part is, is that they stutter while trying to find the right word for it. they say he (stutter and think) (whispers) slash she. its honestly hilarious because their brain knows thats not right, but their brain doesn't know what is the right response :P
