Please don't normalize homelessness. It's not a design challenge. It's state failure and an unacceptable violation of human rights. South Africa has the most valuable mineral resources in the world. It's also the most unequal society in the world. Demand a wealth tax NOW.
.@designindaba funds Bas Timmer’s Sheltersuit, helping him make 250 units for homeless people in Cape Town. It’s a bag which rolls out into a protective sleeping chamber and is made from recycled textiles. (Pic 2 is a jacket and sleeping bag designed for warmth) #DI2020

All good points. Maybe a reductive tweet on my part. There’s a lot more to this project. Can’t speak for the designer but it doesn’t feel like homelessness is being normalised when more context is provided. Will hopefully have the chance to share more information on it.

My useless 2cents. Next time grow a spine and tell her off. Don't be so apologetic. You did not create homelessness. It is not your fault. There will always be homeless people, and creating solutions for them is not "normalizing" anything.
